Two of my favorite moments in Grand Theft Auto V, in my opinion, best capture the game's astounding scale. One is from a mission I completed in the middle of the game, during which I crashed a plane into another, engaged the crew, and took control of it. I then parachuted out and watched it fall into the water to avoid being shot down by approaching military fighter jets. Another time, I was operating an off-road buggy when I became preoccupied with what appeared to be a trail up one of the San Andreas mountains. It turned out to be a route, so I spent 17 minutes walking down it. where I almost knocked over a pack of hikers. “Typical! One of them shouted at me as if every time he goes for a walk, he almost gets driven over by a renegade ATV on top of a mountain.
I could go on forever like this. The city of Los Santos and its surroundings, San Andreas, is made to seem alive and unpredictable by a number of such instances in GTA V, both large and little. It presents a compelling, exciting, and darkly humorous plot while also giving you a ton of freedom to explore a very well-realized setting. There is no mechanical component, which is a step forward for the series in terms of narrative sophistication.

The vehicles' exaggerated handling still offers plenty of possibility for spectacular wipeouts, but they behave less like their tires are made of butter and adhere to the road better. Task checkpointing, one of Rockstar's most vexing enemies, has now been vanquished at long last, guaranteeing that you never have to complete a tiresome, time-consuming drive six times when you repeatedly fail a mission.

It takes aim at the Millennial generation, famous people, the extreme right and left, the middle class, and the media, among other things. Everything about it oozes with mockery. Modern video games are not immune to Rockstar's incisive tongue. One key supporting character spends most of his time in his room playing the first-person shooter Righteous Slaughter ("Rated PG - pretty much the same as the last game") while making sexual threats at others through a headset. He literally has the phrase "Entitled" tattooed on his neck, and the in-game radio and TV's obvious piss-takes leave little to the imagination, so it's not exactly subtle, but it's sometimes quite entertaining and occasionally provocative with it. Although San Andreas in Grand Theft Auto is a fictional setting, the subjects it mocks—greed, corruption, hypocrisy, and the misuse of power—are all too real. GTA V shoots for the contemporary American reality, as GTA IV was a deliberate murder of the American dream. Its satire is made possible by the meticulous attention to detail that goes into making its world seem real and plausible.
